In celebration of World Theatre Day, we thought we would interview our General Manager – Rhea Yeung, to find out why she loves all things Theatre! Here is what she had to say:
What do you love about Theatre?
I love Theatre and the impact it can have on the next generation, it’s a great experience for people to come in and watch a piece of performance art, and have the chance to take part as well. It’s very exciting to be part of inspiring the next generation.
Do you have a favourite genre of Theatre, or a favourite show?
I really enjoy musicals, specifically the work of Stephen Sondheim. Into The Woods is an all-time favourite of mine, as well as Wicked.
Has anything in particular led you to your love of Theatre?
I always loved music; after I graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, I wanted to persue my career within the music industry. However, I realised that this industry wasn’t for me – I found myself falling into the Theatre industry and I haven’t looked back since!
What do you love about Grove Theatre?
Grove Theatre opens the doors to so many different opportunities including community groups and commercial. I may be biased, but I also think Grove Theatre is a beautiful space.
If you could choose to play a part in any musical, what part would you choose?
I have always wanted to play the part of Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd!
