‘Tis (Almost) the Season of Drama!
15 April 2015
The Drama Season 2015 is almost here and we can’t wait!
Thinking of fuddy duddy plays from bygone centuries? Think again! We’re talking about spine-tingling action that will have you gripped from start to finish.
April brings with it an eerie chill as the Drama Season opens with James Cawood’s tense thriller, Stone Cold Murder. Olivia and Robert, owners of a secluded hotel, are enjoying the success of their first season. Their solitude is disrupted by the arrival of a rugged hiker seeking shelter. As the evening unfolds, it becomes clear that the hiker’s presence in the desolate spot is anything but a coincidence. Events soon take a murderous turn. Starring Freya Copeland (Emmerdale), Gary Turner (Emmerdale) and David Callister (The Bill), this wicked cocktail of suspense and murder is simply unmissable!
Arnold Ridley’s classic comedy thriller The Ghost Train hits the stage in May. A group of stranded travellers chance upon a remote railway station and soon find that all is not what it appears to be. The station master warns the group of a ghostly train that haunts the line and if anyone sets eyes upon it, they’re doomed. An all-star cast performs the chilling play, including Tom Butcher (The Bill), Judy Buxton (General Hospital), Sophie Powles (Emmerdale), Corrinne Wicks (Doctors), Jeffrey Holland (Hi-De-Hi!) and David Janson (Keeping Up Appearances).
The hilarious Table Manners brings some warmth with it to the summer season. Alan Ayckbourn’s comic play depicts the interplay between six characters over a weekend in the dining room. An extended family whose members simultaneously despise each other and can’t get enough of each other. Central to these relationships is Norman, who needs desperately to be needed… by anyone. It’s almost hard to blame him once you meet his wife, Ruth, a career-obsessed woman with little apparent need for Norman. Anna Brecon (Emmerdale), Marcus Hutton (Brookside) and David Callister (Emmerdale) star in this side-splitting comedy.
