Congratulations to our Secrets diary competition winner!

As a special competition for Secrets, we asked young people to write to us with diary extracts from 'the best day of your life'. As promised, the winner gets their entry published on our website... and here it is:

The Best Day of My Life

The best day of my life was when my sister was born. It all started one morning when I woke up early and my Nanny was at my house. I went into Mum's bedroom and she said I had to go and live with Nanny for a few days. I was scared Mum wouldn't be OK because she was in pain. After 3 days of living with Nanny we got a phone call to say that Mum had given birth to a little girl, which was odd as Mum thought it would be a boy! If it was a boy we would have called him Regan but she was a girl so we called her Rommany. She's beautiful. Just like me! When Mum got home with the baby I came home and saw her asleep on the bean bag. She was so tiny.

I just wanted to scoop her up into my arms and cuddle her. Mum said I could help bath her and that's when I was told that she was jaundiced. We had lots of cards and presents from friends and family. For the next few days it felt very odd having and extra person in the family. I quickly got used to it and before we knew it Rommany was sitting up. At about 5 or 6 months she was crawling, at 9 months she was standing and now she's 10 months and she's walking! She's an expert at it. We listen to music together and have lots of lovely cuddles. We love each other and I am so looking forward to doing lots of cool stuff with her when she's older; swimming, park, shopping, dancing and playing in the garden.
