Our Summer Holiday Secret!

Date: 27 May 2008

Secrets---Rita-introduces-I

Here's a little bit of exclusive information on the show we've got in store for you to start off your Summer Holidays...

The chances are your children are already devoted fans of Jacqueline Wilson, one of the Britain's top writers for children.

She's the most borrowed author from public libraries - and her book sales have topped 20 million! Now there's the opportunity to see one of her fantastic books on stage...

Secrets tells the story of India and Treasure, two girls from very different walks of life, who meet by chance and become the best of friends.

Inspired by the Jewish wartime heroine Anne Frank, they write diaries, sharing their feelings and thoughts. When Treasure's step-father turns against her, she runs away from home - and to India. And then life all gets a lot more complicated.

Secrets is both an adventure story and a moving tale of friendship and growing up - ideal for youngsters from 9 upwards.

It's adapted and directed by Vicky Ireland, one of Britain's foremost directors of theatre for children and young people. She was, for many years, Artistic Director of the prestigious Polka Theatre for Children in London and  was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Jubilee Birthday honours list for Services to Drama for Children, the first award of its kind! Secrets is the fifth Jacqueline Wilson story which Vicky has adapted and directed.

If you haven't got your tickets yet, make sure you get them now. This is the perfect way to start your summer holiday with something for all the family to enjoy.
